The Sindh government has announced a key relief measure for motorcycle ride-hailing riders, reducing the tax burden to support their income and improve service availability.
According to Beyond Time News, the decision was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Tax Reduced for Ride-Hailing Services
The Sindh Sales Tax (SST) on motorcycle ride services has been cut from 5% to 2% for riders working with platforms like Bykea.
Officials say the move will help:
- Increase riders’ earnings
- Reduce ride cancellations
- Ease financial pressure on gig workers

Other Key Decisions
The cabinet also approved several reforms:
- Appointment of Faisal Malik to strengthen the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA)
- Revised criteria for vice chancellor appointments, including higher experience requirements
- New recruitment rules for education boards to ensure transparency
- Approval of a human rights law amendment and a new urology and transplant institute
