KARACHI: The Sindh government has postponed the upcoming Sindh Pink Games due to extreme heatwave conditions across the province, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Beyond Time News, the decision was taken after sports associations raised concerns over player safety amid rising temperatures.
Event Postponed for Safety Reasons
The Sindh Sports Ministry announced that the games were originally scheduled from 8 to 10 May in Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), but have now been delayed due to severe weather.
Officials said new dates for the event will be announced later.
Thousands of Athletes Affected
Around 1,500 athletes were expected to participate in 21 different sports events during the Pink Games.
Organisers said the decision was necessary to avoid health risks linked to extreme heat.
Heatwave Intensifies Across Sindh and Balochistan
The region continues to experience a strong heatwave, with temperatures rising sharply in several cities.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, peak temperatures are expected to reach:
- Turbat: up to 45°C
- Mithi, Jacobabad, Nawabshah: around 44°C
- Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana: up to 42°C
- Karachi: around 38°C
Even though Karachi has seen a slight drop compared to previous days, the weather remains hot and dry.

Weather Advisory Issued
Officials have advised residents to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Meteorologists also indicated that another spell of intense heat may return later in the month.
