In Handwara, residents of Kulangam, Chogal, and adjoining areas staged a peaceful protest against the continued suspension of work on the Government Medical College (GMC) project, demanding its immediate resumption.
According to Beyond Time News, locals also rejected any move to shift the project away from its original Chogal site, urging authorities to either continue development there or choose a nearby location.
Demand for Public Disclosure
Protesters questioned the delay in making the committee report, headed by the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, public. They said the lack of transparency has fueled confusion and concern among residents.

Residents said they had already given over five hundred kanals of land without compensation for the project, expecting improved healthcare facilities and regional development.
Warning of Escalation
Protesters urged authorities to restart construction without delay and release the pending report. They warned of intensified protests if their demands are not met.
