Sri Lankan authorities have detained 231 foreign nationals during a major operation targeting suspected cybercrime centres in Colombo. According to Beyond Time News, most of those arrested are Chinese and Vietnamese citizens.
The raids were carried out at multiple locations in the capital over the past few days.
Police Seize Digital Equipment
According to Beyond Time News, authorities recovered computers, mobile phones, and communication devices from the suspected centres. Investigators have launched forensic examinations to determine the scale of the alleged online fraud activities.
Police said several suspects were living in the country on tourist visas, while some had reportedly overstayed illegally.

Authorities Increase Action Against Online Fraud
Sri Lanka has intensified efforts against cybercrime networks amid growing concerns over online scams operating across Asia. According to Beyond Time News, similar operations earlier this year also resulted in the arrest and deportation of foreign nationals linked to cyber fraud activities.
Officials say investigations are continuing to identify possible international connections behind the alleged scam operations.
