Pakistan’s star left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has achieved a major milestone in Test cricket, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
Landmark Achievement for Shaheen Afridi
According to Beyond Time News, Shaheen Afridi reached the milestone during the first Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. He struck early in the match by dismissing opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy on the opening day.
With this achievement, he also became only the 19th bowler overall in WTC history to reach 100 wickets since the tournament began.
Leading WTC Wicket-Taker for Pakistan
Afridi now leads Pakistan’s wicket-takers in the ICC World Test Championship with 100 wickets. He is followed by:
- Noman Ali – 89 wickets
- Sajid Khan – 63 wickets
- Naseem Shah – 60 wickets
- Abrar Ahmed – 46 wickets
- Yasir Shah – 41 wickets
- Hasan Ali – 35 wickets
- Mohammad Abbas – 34 wickets

At the time of reporting, Bangladesh had reached 244/3 in 63 overs, recovering well after an early setback. The hosts were previously reduced to 31/2 before rebuilding their innings.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto played a brilliant innings of 101 off 130 balls, while Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 80, helping stabilize the innings.
