AC Milan’s Champions League Hopes in Danger After Atalanta

AC Milan slipped deeper into crisis after a painful 3-2 home defeat against Atalanta on Sunday, putting their chances of returning to the UEFA Champions League at serious risk.

According to Beyond Time News, frustrated fans at San Siro booed the team after another disappointing performance.

Fans Turn Against Club Management

Thousands of supporters left the stadium before the final whistle as anger grew among the home crowd.

Many fans also directed chants toward the club’s American owners, RedBird Capital Partners, blaming management for Milan’s poor run of form.

Atalanta Dominate at San Siro

Atalanta controlled much of the match and raced into a three-goal lead through:

  • Ederson
  • Davide Zappacosta
  • Giacomo Raspadori

Although Strahinja Pavlovic and Christopher Nkunku scored late goals for Milan, the comeback came too late.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri accepted responsibility after the match and admitted the team must improve quickly.

Milan’s Top-Four Position Under Threat

Milan remain inside Serie A’s top four, but only on goal difference. They are level on points with AS Roma and facing growing pressure in the race for Champions League qualification.

According to Beyond Time News, Milan have struggled badly in recent weeks, collecting only seven points in their last several matches.

Como Secure Historic European Qualification

Meanwhile, Como 1907 secured qualification for European competition for the first time after defeating Hellas Verona 1-0.

Tasos Douvikas scored the winning goal, while coach Cesc Fabregas praised the club’s rapid progress.

Como only returned to Serie A in 2024 and could still finish even higher in the standings.

Roma Keep Pressure On Rivals

Roma also stayed firmly in the Champions League race after a dramatic 3-2 win over Parma Calcio 1913.

Late goals and a stoppage-time penalty from Donyell Malen secured a crucial victory.

Fan favourite Paulo Dybala later revealed that next weekend’s Rome derby could be his final home appearance for Roma.
