Toyota Motor Corporation will build a new car manufacturing plant in India with an annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles. Production is expected to begin in the first half of 2029.
The factory will be located in the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashtra. It will produce a new SUV model and create around 2,800 jobs, according to the company.
Expansion of manufacturing in India
Toyota already operates in India through its long-standing presence since 1997. Its main manufacturing base is in Bidadi, Karnataka, where it produces popular models such as the Innova and Fortuner.
The company has sold more than 3 million vehicles in India. It continues to expand its production footprint as demand grows in the local market.
