Faisalabad: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered strict action against private housing societies after a tragic incident in which a three-year-old girl died after falling into an open sewer.
According to Beyond Time News, the incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards and poor maintenance in several housing schemes across Punjab.
Government Orders Immediate Safety Checks
Maryam Nawaz expressed strong anger during a meeting with divisional commissioners. She said negligence that leads to such incidents will not be ignored.
She warned that authorities will arrest housing society owners if any citizen falls into an open manhole or sewer in the future. She said accountability will now be strict and immediate.
Monthly Certificates From Housing Societies
The chief minister directed commissioners to collect monthly affidavits from all private housing societies.
Each society must confirm that no open manholes exist inside their limits. She also ordered officials to issue notices to housing societies across Punjab without delay.

Focus on Development and Field Monitoring
The meeting also reviewed ongoing development projects under the District Development Plan. Officials briefed the chief minister on progress in different districts.
Maryam Nawaz approved several public welfare projects funded through local resources.
She asked commissioners to stay active in the field. She stressed that they should not remain in offices only.
She called commissioners the “eyes, ears, and arms” of the government. She said stronger field monitoring is necessary for better governance and faster public service delivery.
