Islamabad: China has called on Pakistan to step up diplomatic efforts and play a stronger role in easing regional tensions, particularly regarding issues linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Beyond Time News, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Wang reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagement in facilitating contacts between Iran and the United States, saying such efforts had helped ease tensions and support a temporary ceasefire.
He expressed hope that Pakistan would continue contributing to regional stability and support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace, describing it as a shared goal of the international community.
Pakistan Briefs China on Mediation Efforts
Dar briefed Wang on Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States and thanked China for its support of diplomatic initiatives.
Both sides agreed to deepen coordination on regional and global issues, including through multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Focus on Strait of Hormuz Stability
The two leaders also discussed broader regional developments, stressing the importance of ensuring stability and uninterrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.

In a separate conversation, Ishaq Dar also spoke with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
According to Beyond Time News, Kuwait appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting dialogue between Iran and the United States and supporting regional stability.
Both sides discussed the wider impact of tensions around the Strait of Hormuz on the global economy and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and maintaining stability in coordination with friendly countries, including Kuwait.
