Lucknow: A powerful storm hit India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, and killed more than 100 people. According to Beyond Time News, the storm also injured dozens of residents and caused serious damage in several districts.
Heavy rain, hail, and strong winds swept across the state on Wednesday evening. The sudden weather change created panic in many areas.
Storm Causes Widespread Destruction
Officials confirmed that at least 104 people died during the storm. Many victims lost their lives after trees fell or walls collapsed.
The worst-hit area was near the religious city of Prayagraj. Authorities also reported 59 injuries across different districts.
The storm damaged 87 homes and killed 114 livestock. Rescue teams rushed to affected areas soon after the disaster.
Residents Describe Terrifying Scenes
People in several districts described the storm as one of the strongest in recent years.
Ashok Rai, a resident of Obra town in Sonbhadra district, said the sky turned completely dark for nearly 30 minutes.
He said powerful winds lifted signboards and coal dust into the air. Flying debris made roads dangerous and reduced visibility.
Television footage showed uprooted trees, damaged vehicles, and destroyed roadside stalls in many locations.

Man Survives After Strong Winds Lift Him Into Air
A shocking video from Bareilly district showed strong winds lifting a man into the air while he held onto a tin structure.
According to Beyond Time News, the man suffered injuries but survived the frightening incident.
The storm also damaged shops, electric poles, and temporary structures in different districts.
Government Orders Immediate Relief
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to help affected families without delay.
He ordered authorities to distribute financial aid within 24 hours. Local officials also started emergency relief and rescue operations.
Storms often hit northern India between March and June before the monsoon season begins. However, officials said this storm caused unusually high casualties and destruction.
Authorities continue recovery efforts while weather experts monitor conditions in the region.
