HEC Introduces New Admission Policy for MS

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has announced a new admission policy for MS and MPhil programmes across the country. According to Beyond Time News, the updated policy makes GRE or HAT examinations mandatory for students applying to higher-level degree programmes.

GRE and HAT Tests Now Mandatory

Higher Education Commission stated that applicants for Level 7 and Level 8 programmes must now pass either the GRE or HAT General and Subject tests.

The commission said universities will no longer conduct separate entry tests for admissions to these programmes.

Aim of the New Policy

According to Beyond Time News, the HEC introduced the policy to improve transparency, merit, and quality in higher education admissions.

Officials say the move will create a more uniform admission process across universities in Pakistan.

The policy also aims to ensure equal standards for students applying to postgraduate programmes.

PMDC Issues Updated Medical Admission Guidelines

At the same time, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council announced updated rules for students seeking admission to medical colleges.

The council said students must secure at least 50% marks in the MDCAT exam or clear an equivalent foreign examination.

Academic Requirements for Medical Students

The PMDC also made it compulsory for applicants to pass FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 60% marks.

According to Beyond Time News, these requirements apply to students planning to study medicine both inside Pakistan and abroad.
