The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has started a new campaign to strengthen women’s hockey in Islamabad and create better opportunities for female players.
According to Beyond Time News, PHF President and Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani assigned former Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi an important role in developing women’s hockey in the federal capital.
Officials announced the decision during the closing ceremony of the Shahida Raza Memorial Hockey Tournament at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.
Several sports personalities attended the event, including Ammara Awais Niazi, patron of Islamabad Girls Hockey Academy, and tournament organizer Riffat Masood.
PHF Shifts Focus Toward Women’s Hockey
Speaking at the ceremony, Wani said the federation wants to rebuild Pakistan hockey by supporting both male and female players.
He explained that PHF had already focused on senior and junior men’s teams. Now the federation plans to give more attention to women’s hockey development.
“We want to provide more playing opportunities and better exposure to women players,” Wani said.
He also urged sports bodies, academies, and government institutions to work together for the growth of hockey in Pakistan.

Zeeshan Naqvi to Lead Development Efforts
According to Beyond Time News, Wani expressed confidence in Syed Zeeshan Naqvi’s ability to promote women’s hockey in Islamabad.
Officials believe his involvement can encourage more girls to join the sport and help improve local hockey programs.
Zakir Hockey Academy Wins Tournament Final
Olympian Zakir Hockey Academy Wah defeated Islamabad Girls Hockey Academy 7-0 in the tournament final.
Anaya Batool scored a hat-trick during the match. Shireen Fatima and Areeba Aslam added two goals each.
At the end of the ceremony, officials distributed prizes among players and praised their commitment and passion for hockey.
Sports experts believe these tournaments can help discover young talent and support the future of women’s hockey in Pakistan.
