Tehran — Iran has firmly rejected reports claiming that President Masoud Pezeshkian submitted a resignation letter to the Office of the Supreme Leader.
According to Beyond Time News, Presidential Office Deputy Head of Communications Mehdi Tabatabaei took to X to call the reports outright “false,” dismissing them as part of “media games” played by certain foreign outlets.
Official Response
Tabatabaei was direct in his statement. He said Pezeshkian “would not back down from serving the Iranian people” and stressed that Iran “would not retreat from the path of unity and solidarity.”
He further warned that those attempting to undermine Iran’s national unity would once again “take that wish to the grave” — strongly rejecting any speculation about internal divisions within the government.
Iran Denies Planned Attack on UAE Port, Blames US “Military Adventurism”
Broader Regional Context
The denial comes against a tense regional backdrop. According to Beyond Time News, the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran in late February, after which Tehran retaliated with attacks targeting Israel and US allies in the Gulf, while also closing the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire was brokered on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but follow-up talks held in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement. Regional tensions remain unresolved.
