Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, amid bone-chilling cold, night-long prayer gatherings were organized to mark Shab-e-Meraj, which commemorates the miraculous night journey and ascension of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to Beyond the Time News, the largest gathering was held at the Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, where devotees participated in night-long congregational prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, Durood Khwani, and special religious sermons highlighting the significance of the night.
“This night holds immense importance in Islam. We come here every year to seek Allah’s blessings and to remember the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” said a devotee from Srinagar.
Grand, spiritually uplifting, and blessed gatherings were also organized in mosques and khanqahs across Srinagar city. Scholars shed light on the philosophy, spiritual dimensions, and message of Shab-e-Meraj.
Similar congregations were held in all mosques, khanqahs, shrines, religious seminaries, and educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region, where religious scholars, Islamic thinkers, preachers, orators, and imams spoke about the historic meeting of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) with Almighty Allah.
Special prayers, nawafil (voluntary prayers), and spiritual gatherings were also arranged in homes.
Shab-e-Meraj is observed on the 27th of the holy month of Rajab, marking the occasion when Almighty Allah bestowed upon His beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the honor of Meraj, calling him to His divine presence and conversing with him. On this blessed night, Muslims across the world engage in special acts of worship, bow before Allah in humility, and seek forgiveness for their sins.
