Education stakeholders in Punjab are raising concerns over the current Friday online learning policy. Private school owners now want the government to restore full in-person classes, saying students are falling behind.
Schools Push for Return to Physical Classes
Private school representatives have urged authorities to end the “online-only” Fridays and allow regular classroom teaching. According to Beyond Time News, they believe in-person learning delivers better results than virtual classes.
School owners argue that students struggle to stay focused online. They also say teachers find it harder to maintain discipline and engagement during virtual sessions.
Key Meeting Highlights
Education stakeholders from across Punjab met to review academic performance and discuss ongoing challenges. The meeting focused on improving learning outcomes and addressing delays in the system.
Qazi Naeem Anjum, head of the Punjab Private Schools Body, led the discussion. Experts including Syed Faisal Gillani, Saleem Awan, and Hassan Minhas also attended.
Anjum stressed that schools need at least 210 days of classroom teaching each year to maintain strong academic standards.
Concerns Over Delayed Textbooks
Participants also raised serious concerns about late textbook distribution. They said the delay has already wasted valuable learning time for students.
According to Beyond Time News, school owners have asked the government to ensure that next year’s textbooks are printed and delivered on schedule.
Affiliation and Academic Pressure
Private schools also called on the Lahore Board to speed up the process of extending school affiliations. Delays in approvals, combined with frequent holidays, have made it difficult for schools to complete their syllabus.
Education experts warned that these issues directly affect student performance and exam results.

Government’s Current Policy on Fridays
Earlier this month, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hyat explained the Friday policy. He said schools will continue “work from home” instead of holding full holidays.
Under this policy, schools, colleges, and universities can conduct online classes on Fridays. The regular weekend on Saturday and Sunday remains unchanged.
Call for Policy Review
Private school owners believe the current system needs urgent revision. They argue that reducing weekly disruptions will help students stay on track and improve learning outcomes.
With growing pressure from educators, the government may soon review the Friday online class policy to better support students across Punjab.
