ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) successfully launched the country’s indigenous Electro-Optical Satellite (EO-3) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in China on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the launch marks a major milestone in Pakistan’s journey towards self-reliance and technological advancement.
The satellite will provide advanced imaging data to support urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental protection. Moreover, officials said it will help build an integrated Earth observation system to support national development goals.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the engineers and scientists of SUPARCO for their professional excellence and dedication. He also acknowledged China’s continued support in Pakistan’s space programme.
Strategic importance
Officials said EO-3 strengthens Pakistan’s space capabilities and improves its ability to monitor environmental and geographic changes in real time. In addition, it supports long-term planning in multiple sectors of the economy.
Notably, this achievement follows another successful satellite launch earlier this year, when SUPARCO placed an indigenous Electro-Optical satellite into orbit from China.
