A-Level Paper Leak Sparks Concern in Karachi

Authorities investigate reported leaks while exam boards tighten monitoring across the city

According to Beyond Time News, concerns have risen in Karachi after reports surfaced that an A-Level examination paper was leaked online before the scheduled exam.

A-Level Mathematics Paper Allegedly Leaked

Reports suggest that the A-Level First Year Mathematics paper appeared online during the early hours, between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The paper reportedly circulated on social media platforms and messaging apps, including Reddit and WhatsApp groups.

The leaked content spread quickly, raising questions about exam security and monitoring systems. However, officials from Cambridge International Education have not yet issued a response regarding the incident.

Examination Boards Respond to Security Concerns

Meanwhile, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) stated that it prevented an attempt to leak a paper during ongoing intermediate examinations.

BIEK Chairman Fakir Muhammad Lakho confirmed that the annual exams for classes 11 and 12 began recently. He said more than 160,000 students are taking exams across 175 centers in Karachi.

He added that authorities have introduced new measures to improve transparency. For example, digital attendance systems are now in place. In addition, officials are monitoring exam centers in real time through dedicated applications.

Strict Monitoring and Sensitive Centers

BIEK has identified 21 examination centers as highly sensitive. Therefore, extra staff and monitoring teams have been deployed at these locations.

Moreover, science papers are being conducted using e-marking and OMR systems. Officials also plan to fully digitize the examination system in the future.

Because of extreme heat, Rescue 1122 teams are assisting students and staff during exams. Complaint cells have also been set up in district offices to handle emergencies.

Botany Paper Incident Explained

In a separate clarification, BIEK rejected claims of a leaked Intermediate Part-II Botany paper.

Officials said the paper appeared on WhatsApp after the exam had already started. Therefore, they stated it cannot be classified as a leak.

Investigators traced the source to a government college in Gadap’s Konkar Village. A student allegedly shared the paper using a mobile phone during the exam.

Vigilance teams recovered the device after tracking watermark data. The student now faces disciplinary action under examination rules.

Growing Concerns Over Exam Integrity

Authorities have reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward cheating and misconduct. They have warned that strict action will continue against any violations.

However, repeated incidents have raised concerns about the need for stronger enforcement and better digital security in Pakistan’s examination system.
