ITF Men’s Futures M-15 Tournament Gains Momentum

Pakistani players shine as international tennis event continues at PTF Complex

According to Beyond Time News, the ITF Men’s Futures M-15 (Leg-1) tournament continued with exciting matches at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad. The event has attracted players from around the world and is gaining strong attention in Pakistan’s tennis scene.

Tournament Held in Honor of a Tennis Legend

The Pakistan Tennis Federation is organizing the tournament in memory of Khawaja Iftikhar Ahmad. He remains one of the most respected figures in regional tennis history.

Notably, he achieved the rare distinction of being ranked No. 1 in pre-1947 India and later in Pakistan for a decade. In recognition of his services, he received the Pride of Performance in 1964.

Global Participation Adds Competitive Edge

This international tournament features around 70 players from 23 countries. These include nations such as Pakistan, Sweden, Australia, the United States, and China.

Top seed Leo Borg entered the tournament with an ATP ranking of 483. Meanwhile, second seed Samir Hamza Reguig holds an ATP ranking of 844.

Pakistani Players Deliver Strong Performances

Local players impressed on Day 2 of the main draw. Muhammad Shoaib secured a comfortable win and advanced to the next round. Similarly, Barkatullah showed great resilience and fought back to claim victory in a tough match.

As a result, both players kept Pakistan’s hopes alive in the singles category.

Rising Talent Shines in Doubles Event

In the doubles competition, the young Pakistani pair of Abubakar Talha and Ahmad Nael Qureshi delivered an outstanding performance. Although they lost the first set, they quickly regained control.

They played aggressive and confident tennis to win the match 5–7, 6–2, 10–5. Consequently, they advanced to the next round and highlighted the emergence of new talent in Pakistan.

The ongoing matches continue to attract attention as players compete for valuable ranking points and experience. Moreover, the event provides local players with exposure to international competition.
