Muzaffarabad: The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has urged the United Nations to discharge its legal and moral responsibilities and resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore in his special message on the occasion of Right to Self-Determination Day, expressed dismay over the UN’s lackadaisical approach towards the issue, saying it was unfortunate that the promise of the right to self-determination made by the UN to the Kashmiri people seven decades ago is yet to be fulfilled.
He said holding a plebiscite in Kashmir, as per the UN-proposed roadmap, remains the primary responsibility of the international community. He said freedom from India’s illegal occupation and accession to Pakistan is their sole objective, which, he added, would be achieved despite all odds.
The AJK Prime Minister made it clear that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir would never abandon their moral, political, and diplomatic support for the people of occupied Kashmir. He said India’s imperialistic presence in occupied Kashmir is the main cause of human rights violations, continued bloodshed, and violence in the disputed region.
