BCB President Aminul Islam arrives in Pakistan

LAHORE: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Mohammad Aminul Islam Bulbul arrived in Lahore on Sunday for a day-long visit, sources told Beyond the Time News.

Bangladesh had earlier declined to send its team to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, citing security concerns, and requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift its matches to Sri Lanka. However, the ICC subsequently excluded Bangladesh from the tournament and included Scotland in its place, triggering widespread debate.

According to sources, Aminul Islam is scheduled to meet Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during his visit. The discussions are expected to focus on issues related to the ICC and the evolving situation surrounding the tournament.

Insiders said the two officials will also deliberate on the matter and coordinate a possible future strategy ahead of the upcoming ICC meeting.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, the PCB firmly rejected claims circulating in sections of the Indian media that it had formally informed the ICC of its refusal to play the T20 World Cup league match against India scheduled for February 15.

Clarifying the situation, PCB spokesperson Amir Mir said the board had made no such communication with the ICC. “We strongly reject the false claims attributed to Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta,” he said.

Accusing certain Indian media outlets of spreading misinformation, Mir added that “some sections of the Indian media are engaged in speculative reporting. With time, it will become clear who actually initiated contact.”

Earlier, a post shared on the Government of Pakistan’s official X account stated that the Pakistan cricket team would not take the field in the match scheduled against India on February 15, 2026.
