He said that the current situation was a reflection of colonial thinking, which was the ideology of the British. He said the status of Ladakh has been abolished and it has been made a Union Territory. He said there is no truth in the claims that “everything is good.”
Sajjad Kargili said negotiations have been going on with the Indian government for the past four years, which the Indian government is not happy about.
He said when the Ladakhis demanded protection of their lands and the Sixth Schedule, the Indian government did not like it, adding for the last six years, Ladakhis have not got a single gazetted post. He said that Sonam Wangchuck is being punished for not accepting the decision of the Indian government. He said since 1947, there has not been as much opposition to India in Ladakh as there has been in the last six years.
Sajjad Kargil said even the BJP people in the region are not happy with the Indian government internally. He said tourism is the only source of employment in the region, but the corona virus pandemic first sank its fleet and Operation Sindoor made up for the shortfall, as a result of which tourists have stopped visiting here.
