Islamabad: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter Muhammad Farooq Rahmani has paid rich tributes to Kashmiri freedom fighters Shaheed Muhammad Yousuf Chohan alias Muhammad Yousuf Zangi, Abdul Rashid Khan Shaheed and Fayyaz Ahmed Shah Shaheed on their death anniversary.
According to Beyond the Time News, Indian troops martyred Muhammad Yousuf Zangi and Abdul Rashid Khan on January 23, 2000 in village Botho of Bandipora, while Fayyaz Ahmed Shah was martyred in January 1994 in Barzilla Baghat area of Srinagar.
Muhammad Farooq Rahmani in a statement issued in Islamabad said these martyrs sacrificed their precious lives for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He said that Muhammad Yousuf Zangi Shaheed was known for his simple lifestyle, high morals and spirit of public service and he was highly respected by the people. He said that Fayyaz Ahmed Shah Shaheed was also a determined worker who stood firm against oppression and tyranny.
He said the sacrifices of the martyrs are a reminder of the fact that the Kashmir dispute is still unresolved. He said lasting peace in South Asia is not possible until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the will of the Kashmiri people and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
Muhammad Farooq Rahmani urged the international community and human rights organizations to take serious notice of the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and play a role in ensuring that the Kashmiri people enjoy their birthright to self-determination.
