IAF aircraft crashes into pond in UP

New Delhi: A two-seater microlite aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed into a pond in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district on Wednesday, with both pilots escaping unharmed.

According to Beyond the Time News, the aircraft, on a routine training sortie, experienced a technical snag in its engine, prompting the pilots to make a controlled landing in the pond near K P College.

The pilots were rescued safely with the help of police, fire brigade personnel, and local residents, with divers playing a crucial role in the rescue operation. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.

This incident adds to a growing list of aviation emergencies in India. Recently, a Tejas fighter jet crashed at the Dubai Airshow in November 2025, resulting in the pilot’s death. In 2024, a MiG-29 fighter jet crashed near Agra, and a HAL Tejas crashed in Rajasthan. These incidents highlight concerns about aircraft safety and maintenance in India.
