‘Importance, historical background of Jan 5, 1949 resolution are undeniable’

Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell organized a seminar on the occasion of Right to Self-Determination Day at Kashmir House in Islamabad today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Senior Minister of Government of AJK, Mian Abdul Waheed chief guest on the occasion while former president and prime minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, former president Sardar Masood Khan, former prime minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, former prime minister Sardar Muhammad Atiq Khan, Minister Ms Nabila Ayub, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Dr Muhammad Mushtaq, Hurriyat leader Altaf Butt, Ms Shamim Shawl, Dr Raja Sajjad Khan, Raja Khan Afsar Khan, Sardar Sajid Mahmood, Sardar Ali Shan, Sardar Najeeb Ghafoor, Raja Rashid Raza, Khwaja Imran-ul-Haq, Sardar Siddique, Zafar Mughal, Raja Bashir, Bashir Usmani, Raja Abdul Jabbar, Rubina Butt, Wasim Younis, Rafi Ahmed, Khwaja Irfan Bande, political and social leaders and people from different walks of life attended the seminar

Mian Abdul Waheed addressing the seminar, said that January 5 is the Day of Right to Self-Determination and its importance and historical background are undeniable. He said the resolution of the Day of Right to Self-Determination is the only document with which we can highlight and present the Kashmir dispute before the world community.

He said the real parties to it are the Kashmiris who have sacrificed lakhs of lives for their freedom. He said freedom movements are not limited to months and years. Insha Allah, the freedom movement will succeed as our advocate Pakistan fought three wars for Kashmir.

Former President and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan said the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue to fight for freedom from India despite difficulties. He said an all parties conference will be organized and the Kashmir dispute will be highlighted in a comprehensive manner.

Former prime minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said the Indian actions of August 5, 2019 are not acceptable to the Kashmiris, adding today is a very important day for the Kashmiris as on this day in 1949, the United Nations had approved the resolution. He said Indian troops have been committing serious human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and the world will have to pay attention to it.

Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan said self-determination is the fundamental right of Kashmiris and the United Nations should implement this resolution. He said those who are associated with this movement are steadfast in their determination and the day is not far when Kashmiris will get their right to self-determination.

Former prime minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan said January 5 is of great importance with regard to the Kashmir dispute as on this day, the Kashmiris were promised their right to self-determination. He said the first two resolutions state that according to the principles of the partition of India, the Kashmir conflict should be resolved. He said the freedom movement of the Kashmiris is still going on and will continue till complete success.
