Iranian Petrol Prices Surge in Balochistan Amid Border Disruptions

Petrol prices linked to Iranian fuel supplies have surged in parts of Balochistan, adding fresh pressure on consumers already struggling with inflation.

According to Beyond Time News, Iranian petrol prices in border and coastal areas have climbed from Rs170-180 per litre to nearly Rs200-210 per litre.

Fuel Rates Rise in Gwadar and Nearby Areas

Local traders said the sharp increase has mainly affected Gwadar and surrounding coastal regions near the Iranian border.

They explained that reduced business activity in the Kuntani Hor border area disrupted fuel supplies. As a result, local markets saw immediate price increases.

Border Disruptions Affect Supply Chain

Traders said Kuntani Hor serves as a major route for cross-border goods movement between Pakistan and Iran.

However, restrictions and reduced activity in the area slowed fuel transportation. Consequently, petrol supplies dropped in several nearby districts.

Residents Fear Higher Living Costs

Residents warned that rising fuel prices could increase transport fares and household expenses.

Many people also fear that inflation will worsen if petrol prices continue to rise in the coming weeks.

Petrol Price Hike Challenged in Court

Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against the federal government’s recent fuel price increase.

The petitioner argued that the decision lacked transparency and hurt the public interest.

According to Beyond Time News, the petition also challenged the continued rise in the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL). It claimed that only parliament should approve such increases.

Multiple Sectors Under Pressure

The petitioner said higher fuel prices are affecting several sectors, including:

  • Transport
  • Agriculture
  • Food supply
  • Electricity

As costs rise, businesses and consumers continue to face growing economic pressure.

Outlook

The latest increase in Iranian petrol prices reflects wider supply and inflation challenges across Pakistan. According to Beyond Time News, residents and traders remain concerned about further increases if border disruptions continue.
