Israel Approves Multi-Billion Dollar Fighter Jet Deal with U.S.

Israel has approved a major defence deal with the United States to purchase advanced fighter jets, aiming to strengthen its long-term air power.

Deal Includes Advanced Warplanes

According to Beyond Time News, the agreement includes a squadron of F-35 Lightning II jets built by Lockheed Martin and another squadron of F-15EX Eagle II (F-15IA) from Boeing.

Defence officials say the plan will help maintain Israel’s air superiority for decades. The jets form a key part of the country’s broader defence strategy.

Netanyahu Highlights Military Strength

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the deal would reinforce Israel’s dominance in the air. He also announced plans to significantly increase defence spending over the next decade.

Netanyahu revealed that Israel intends to invest around $118 billion to strengthen its military capabilities. He added that the country aims to develop its own advanced weapons and aircraft to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.

Focus on Local Defence Industry

The Israeli leadership also emphasized building “blue-and-white” (locally developed) defence systems. This strategy aims to boost domestic production and innovation in military technology.

Strategic Importance

The F-35 Lightning II is considered one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, known for its stealth and multi-role capabilities. Israel already operates several of these aircraft.

Meanwhile, the F-15IA variant offers enhanced payload and long-range strike capabilities, making it suitable for strategic missions.

Rising Defence Spending

Israel’s military spending has increased in recent years, especially following conflicts in Gaza and tensions with Iran. Air power has played a central role in these operations, including long-range strikes and intensive aerial campaigns.

The latest deal reflects Israel’s continued focus on strengthening its military edge in a complex regional security environment.
