Woman booked for having VPN on mobile phone in Udhampur

Jammu: A woman has been booked by Indian police in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district for allegedly using Virtual Private Network (VPN) services on her mobile phone.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the woman identified as, Meena Sharma, faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly defying the ban.

The police spokesperson said that Sharma’s mobile number was found using VPN services, and further investigation is underway.

The move has sparked concerns over restrictions on digital freedom in the territory.
