A moderate earthquake jolted residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, causing brief panic but no reported damage.

Tremors Felt Across Twin Cities

According to Beyond Time News, the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. Tremors were felt across the twin cities and nearby areas, prompting many residents to rush outdoors in fear.

Despite the intensity, initial reports confirmed no casualties or property damage.

Epicentre and Details

The Seismological Centre reported that the quake struck at a depth of 128 kilometres. Its epicentre was located near the Tajikistan–Xinjiang border region.

Light Tremors in Kashmir Region

Milder tremors were also recorded in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad.

According to Beyond Time News, a separate 3.6 magnitude quake was recorded in the area, with a depth of 25 kilometres and an epicentre about 12 kilometres southeast of Muzaffarabad.

Strong Earthquake Hits Philippines

In a separate development, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Samar Island in the central Philippines.

The tremor hit near San Julian town in Eastern Samar province at a depth of 56 kilometres. Authorities warned of possible aftershocks but reported no immediate casualties.

Local officials said the shaking lasted around 30 seconds and caused minor cracks in some buildings, though no major damage was reported.

The Philippines lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a region known for frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity, with hundreds of quakes recorded each year.

While both earthquakes caused concern among residents, the absence of major damage or injuries is a relief. Authorities continue to monitor the situation for any aftershocks.
