Iran Sends New Proposal Through Pakistan

According to Beyond Time News, Iran has shared a revised proposal with Pakistan to restart negotiations with the United States. Iranian state media reported that officials handed the document to Islamabad on Thursday evening as both sides remain locked in a fragile ceasefire.

The proposal aims to revive dialogue after earlier talks failed to produce results. While the ceasefire has held for weeks, neither side has made significant progress toward a lasting agreement.

Background of the Conflict

The conflict began on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iran. Active fighting paused on April 8 under a ceasefire, but tensions remain high.

Iran has continued to control the Strait of Hormuz, restricting global supplies of oil, gas, and fertiliser. In response, the United States has enforced a counter-blockade on Iranian ports, further escalating economic pressure.

Iran’s Position on Negotiations

Iranian judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said the country remains open to dialogue but will not accept pressure.

He stressed that Iran does not want war and has no interest in continuing the conflict. However, he made it clear that any negotiations must respect Iran’s terms and sovereignty.

Pressure Mounts on Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump is facing growing domestic pressure as the conflict drags on without a clear outcome. Rising inflation and slowing economic growth have increased concerns at home, especially with midterm elections approaching.

Reports suggest that US officials are preparing for a prolonged blockade, which has already pushed global oil prices significantly higher.

Economic Impact on Both Sides

The ongoing tensions have disrupted global markets. Oil prices remain more than 50% higher than pre-war levels due to uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz.

In Iran, economic conditions have worsened. Inflation has surged, and many people now struggle to afford basic necessities. Job losses have also increased as businesses face mounting pressure.

Global Efforts to Reopen Shipping Routes

The United States has announced a new international initiative called the “Maritime Freedom Construct” to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, European countries like France and the United Kingdom continue working on their own coordinated efforts.

Officials say these initiatives will complement each other, but they depend heavily on achieving lasting peace in the region.
