According to Beyond Time News, the meeting focused on the country’s political situation and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Maryam Nawaz also attended the session.
During the meeting, the prime minister briefed Nawaz Sharif on current political developments. He also shared updates on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace in the region.
Focus on Middle East conflict and diplomacy
The discussion highlighted the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which began after strikes by the United States and Israel earlier this year. Although a ceasefire has paused active fighting, tensions remain high.
Pakistan has played an active role in diplomatic efforts. It hosted talks between the US and Iran, widely referred to as the “Islamabad Talks,” to ease tensions. However, progress on further negotiations has slowed, and Pakistan now continues its role as a facilitator.

Rising oil prices and economic impact
The leaders also reviewed the impact of rising global oil prices. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted energy supplies, pushing prices higher worldwide.
PM Shehbaz Sharif informed Nawaz Sharif about government measures to reduce the burden on citizens. These steps include adjustments in fuel prices and targeted subsidies.
Initially, the government increased petrol and diesel prices due to global trends. Later, it revised its approach by reducing the petroleum levy and lowering fuel prices to provide relief.
The meeting reflects ongoing coordination within the ruling leadership as Pakistan navigates economic challenges and regional uncertainties.
