Karachi is experiencing intense heat today as temperatures rise sharply above 40°C, with hot and dry weather affecting much of Sindh and southern Pakistan.
According to Beyond Time News, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast extremely hot conditions across southern regions, driven by dry winds and weak sea breeze activity.
Karachi Temperature Soars
On Sunday, the city’s Old Airport weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 40.9°C with 52% humidity, making the heat feel significantly stronger. The heat index pushed perceived temperatures up to around 45°C.
Several areas recorded even higher readings:
- Gulistan-e-Johar: 42°C
- Jinnah Terminal: 41.4°C
- Mauripur: 40°C
- Sharae Faisal: 39.5°C
Heatwave Conditions in Sindh
Weather officials explained that a heatwave occurs when temperatures exceed 40°C for several days with weak or absent sea breezes and high humidity levels.
In interior Sindh, Jacobabad recorded a scorching 46°C, making it one of the hottest areas in the region.

Relief Expected Soon
Authorities expect continued hot and dry weather today, with temperatures possibly reaching 41°C in Karachi due to strong northwesterly winds. However, sea breezes may return by evening, bringing some relief.
From Tuesday onward, temperatures are likely to ease slightly to 36°C–38°C.
Government Response and Advisory
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has issued a heatwave alert for multiple districts, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Nawabshah, Ghotki, and Sanghar.
He has directed authorities to set up heatwave relief camps and ensure hospitals are prepared to treat heatstroke patients.
Residents are advised to:
- Avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure
- Stay hydrated
- Take precautions against heat-related illness
