Heatwave in Karachi Expected to Ease Tomorrow

KARACHI: The ongoing heatwave in Karachi is expected to weaken by Tuesday, while another spell of intense heat is likely to return later this week.

According to Beyond Time News, the Pakistan Meteorological Department says temperatures may drop to around 38°C tomorrow, bringing some temporary relief to residents.

Relief Before Another Heat Spell

Meteorological officials warn that the improvement will be short-lived. A fresh heatwave is expected to begin on May 7, with another hot spell likely to hit Karachi from May 13.

Deputy Director Anjum Nazeer Zaigham advised citizens to avoid unnecessary sun exposure, especially during peak afternoon hours. He also urged people to stay hydrated due to extreme weather conditions.

Extreme Heat Conditions Persist

Karachi experienced one of its hottest days of the season, with temperatures reaching around 43°C. The situation worsened due to weak sea breezes and strong hot winds blowing from inland areas.

Humidity also made conditions worse, pushing the “feels-like” temperature significantly higher than the actual reading.

  • Hyderabad: around 43°C
  • Nawabshah, Dadu, Larkana, Sanghar, Sakrand, Mirpur Khas: above 40°C
  • Jacobabad: highest recorded at 46°C

Weather Outlook

The meteorological department expects hot and dry conditions to continue across most parts of the country. Southern regions, in particular, are likely to remain under severe heat stress in the coming days.

Authorities continue to urge people to take precautionary measures as multiple heatwave spells are forecast throughout May.
