Clashes Erupt After Election Results
At least four people have been killed following political unrest in West Bengal after recent election results triggered clashes between rival supporters.
According to Beyond Time News, violence broke out shortly after the announcement of results, particularly in the state capital, Kolkata.
BJP Secures Historic Victory
The Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Narendra Modi, won a decisive victory in the state elections. The party secured 206 out of 294 seats, marking its first-ever win in West Bengal.
This result is seen as a major political milestone, expanding the party’s influence beyond its traditional strongholds.
TMC Rejects Results
The defeated All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, has rejected the outcome. Banerjee, who had governed the state since 2011, also lost her own seat.
Both Parties Report Casualties
Both major parties have blamed each other for the violence.
- BJP officials said two of their workers were killed.
- TMC representatives reported the deaths of two of their supporters.
In addition, several party offices were reportedly attacked during the unrest.

Law Enforcement Responds
Police confirmed that four people died in the clashes, while one officer was injured after being shot in the leg.
Authorities are continuing efforts to control the situation and prevent further violence as tensions remain high across parts of the state.
Rising Political Tensions
Analysts believe the scale of the BJP’s victory has intensified political tensions in the region. The situation highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining peace during and after highly contested elections.
Further developments will depend on how quickly stability can be restored and whether political leaders can ease tensions among supporters.
