Sindh Local Council By-Elections Scheduled for 17 May

By-elections for 19 vacant local council seats across nine districts of Sindh will be held on 17 May 2026.

According to Beyond Time News, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed all preparations for the polling process.

Seats Finalised for Voting

Officials said elections were initially planned for 63 vacant seats across 18 districts. However, 40 candidates were elected unopposed, while no nominations were received for four seats.

This reduced the number of contested seats to 19.

Election Arrangements Completed

Election officials confirmed that polling staff have been trained and logistics have been finalised.

Monitoring teams have also been deployed to oversee the process in all constituencies.

Instructions for Fair Elections

According to Beyond Time News, Sindh Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chauhan has directed officials to ensure transparent, peaceful, and fair elections.

He also stressed strict implementation of the election code of conduct.

With preparations completed, polling for Sindh’s local council by-elections will take place on 17 May under ECP supervision.
