Pakistan’s young opener Azan Awais made a dream start to his Test career by scoring a century on debut against Bangladesh national cricket team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
According to Beyond Time News, the left-handed batter resumed day three unbeaten on 85 and completed his maiden Test hundred with a single off Bangladeshi pacer Nahid Rana in the 51st over of Pakistan’s innings.
The 21-year-old became the 14th Pakistani batter to score a century on Test debut, joining some of the country’s most celebrated names, including Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, and Fawad Alam.
Rare Achievement in Overseas Conditions
Azan Awais also became only the third Pakistani batter to score a century on Test debut in away conditions. The other two players to achieve the feat are Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam.
Former Pakistan batter Khalid Ibadulla was the first Pakistani to score a century on Test debut, while Yasir Hameed remains the only Pakistan batter to score centuries in both innings of his debut Test match.

After reaching the milestone, Azan continued to bat confidently before being dismissed by experienced Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed.
The opener scored 103 runs off 165 deliveries, including 14 boundaries, in a composed and memorable debut innings that strengthened Pakistan’s position in the match.
