KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) carried out a series of enforcement actions at Karachi Sea Port and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim during May 2026, resulting in fines totaling Rs7 million deposited into the national exchequer.
According to Beyond Time News, the operations targeted multiple vessels and crew members involved in violations at both major seaports.
Actions at Karachi Sea Port
At Karachi Sea Port, FIA imposed fines on 12 individuals, including foreign and local crew members from different vessels.
Those penalized included crew members from MT AL Tarf, CV Albert-P, MT Asana, Marine Xane, and MV Sen Remo. The group comprised Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Filipino, Syrian, Myanmar, and Greek nationals.
The cumulative penalty imposed at Karachi Sea Port amounted to Rs6 million.
Enforcement at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim
Separately, at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, enforcement action was taken against vessel JBU Shelde. Two Indian crew members were fined a total of Rs1 million for violations identified during the inspection.
Total Penalties and Vessel Coverage
During the reporting period, a total of six vessels were inspected, and 14 individuals were fined across both ports.
Overall, FIA collected Rs7 million in penalties, which were deposited into the national treasury.
Officials noted that this is the first time such enforcement actions at Karachi’s seaports have resulted in a monthly fine collection of this scale being directly deposited into the national exchequer.

Strengthening Maritime Enforcement
Authorities said the operations reflect increased monitoring and enforcement at Pakistan’s major ports aimed at ensuring compliance with regulations and improving maritime oversight.
FIA officials indicated that such actions will continue as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen enforcement mechanisms and maintain transparency in port operations.
