Noida: Greater Noida police in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have subjected a 10-year-old girl to brutal physical abuse and starvation at their government accommodation inside a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp.
According to Beyond the Time News, the child is currently fighting for her life on ventilator support at a private hospital in Noida. The accused have been identified as Tariq Anwar, a CRPF constable deployed with the 235th Battalion, and his wife Rimpa Khatoon.
Police said the couple had brought the minor—reported to be a relative of Rimpa Khatoon—to their residence without official permission and forced her to work as a domestic help.
According to investigators, the child was repeatedly assaulted over an extended period and denied proper food and medical care. On the intervening night of January 14 and 15, the couple subjected her to severe physical violence, leaving her with critical injuries to her head, chest and other parts of the body.
The girl was initially taken to Sarvodaya Hospital in Bisrakh in a semi-conscious state. Doctors found multiple old and new injuries, including fractured ribs, torn nails, swelling around the eyes, and scars across her body.
Medical tests also revealed her haemoglobin level had dropped to a dangerously low 1.9, indicating prolonged neglect and deprivation.
Despite doctors advising intensive care, the couple removed the child from the hospital against medical advice, citing financial constraints. She was later shifted to Max Hospital in Noida, where she remains on ventilator support.
An FIR was subsequently registered under Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
