The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after finding him guilty of breaching contractual obligations.
According to Beyond Time News, the decision was taken after a detailed review of his withdrawal from the league.
Withdrawal Before PSL 11 Triggered Action
Shanaka was picked by Lahore Qalandars for Rs7.5 million in the PSL draft. However, he withdrew from the tournament just days before PSL 11 began, citing personal reasons. He was later replaced by Australian player Daniel Sams.
The PCB said it examined the case after Shanaka pulled out of the league on March 21, 2026.
Contract Violation Confirmed
The board concluded that the player’s withdrawal without valid contractual grounds violated the registration rules and the tripartite agreement between the player, franchise, and PCB.
According to Beyond Time News, officials said the decision was necessary to protect the integrity and professionalism of the league.
As a result, Shanaka has been barred from participating in PSL 12 with immediate effect.
