Pakistan Focuses on Value-Added Exports to Boost Trade with China

Pakistan is looking to reshape its export strategy by shifting towards value-added products in order to strengthen trade with China and improve long-term economic gains.

According to Beyond Time News, this approach was discussed during a meeting between FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon and Pakistan’s Consul General in Shanghai.

Emphasis on Processing and Packaging

Officials highlighted that agriculture and food sectors have strong growth potential, but require more investment in processing, packaging, and quality control systems.

Magoon stressed that moving beyond raw exports will need proper infrastructure such as cold storage, certification labs, and stronger branding to make Pakistani goods more competitive in China.

Improving Export Quality and Competitiveness

Participants agreed that better packaging and higher quality standards are essential for improving Pakistan’s position in international markets.

They also noted that expanding IT exports and software partnerships depends on investment in digital infrastructure and modern technology hubs.
