Red Zone Remains Restricted While Normal Life Slowly Resumes in Surrounding Areas
Islamabad’s security situation showed partial relief on Wednesday as several routes in the twin cities reopened for public use. However, the Red Zone in the capital stayed sealed, keeping access limited to authorized personnel only due to ongoing high-level security arrangements.
According to Beyond Time News, the restrictions were initially imposed ahead of expected visits by foreign delegations and sensitive diplomatic developments. While some of those plans were delayed, security measures in key areas remain in place.
Movement Restrictions Continue in the Red Zone
The Red Zone, which houses important government buildings and offices, remains under strict security control. Law enforcement agencies and military personnel continue patrolling the area to maintain order.
Public entry has been restricted since the weekend, and only essential staff and officials are allowed inside. Many government employees have been working remotely under official instructions.
Remote Work Extended for Government Offices
Authorities have extended work-from-home arrangements for federal ministries and departments located in the Red Zone. According to an official notification shared by Islamabad’s administration, government offices will continue operating remotely for another day.
Officials have also directed staff to stay available for immediate reporting if required.

Fake Notifications Circulated Online
Amid the ongoing restrictions, officials have warned citizens about false information circulating on social media. A fake notice claiming extended shop closing times was dismissed by the Islamabad administration.
Authorities clarified that no new update had been issued regarding market timings and urged the public to rely only on verified government sources.
Previously, shops and markets were instructed to close earlier as part of energy-saving measures linked to global fuel supply pressures.
Partial Restoration of Transport Services
In Rawalpindi, some transport services have resumed, including bus operations on key routes. However, a few major bus terminals remain closed, and full restoration of goods transport has not yet taken place.
Despite these disruptions, essential supplies such as food, dairy, and meat continue to be available without major shortages in local markets.

Residents across Islamabad and Rawalpindi have expressed mixed reactions to the ongoing situation. While some appreciate Pakistan’s growing diplomatic visibility, others are concerned about the impact of prolonged restrictions on daily life.
Many citizens report challenges such as school closures, higher transport costs, and limited mobility due to roadblocks.
Some residents hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts will eventually ease security measures and restore normal routines across the capital.
For now, life in Islamabad continues under tight security, with gradual easing of restrictions in select areas but continued control over the city’s most sensitive zone.
