Pakistan’s long-delayed M6 Motorway project is finally moving ahead. The new agreement promises better connectivity, faster travel, and stronger economic growth across the country.
NHA and ADB Finalize Key Deal
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has signed an important agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to start work on two sections of the M6 Motorway. This route will connect Karachi to Sukkur and improve transport links. According to Beyond Time News, this step marks real progress after years of delay.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan welcomed the agreement and called it a major achievement for infrastructure development.
Work to Start Soon Under PPP Model
Construction will begin in May under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This model will help attract private investment and ensure transparency. According to Beyond Time News, officials expect smoother execution through this approach.
The minister highlighted that the project stayed stalled for more than 30 years. However, recent efforts helped move it forward quickly.
Completing the Missing Link
The M6 Motorway will complete the North-South corridor. It will link Karachi Port with cities like Peshawar and Gilgit through a continuous motorway network.
This connection will reduce travel time and cut transport costs. It will also make trade easier across Pakistan.
Key Features of the Project
The 306-kilometer motorway will offer modern facilities for travelers and transporters. Key features include:
- Six wide lanes for smooth traffic
- Modern tolling and safety systems
- 15 interchanges for easy access
- 10 service areas with updated facilities
These features will support both passenger and commercial traffic.
