Cambodian authorities have agreed to repatriate 54 Pakistani nationals detained in Siem Reap Province, the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Tuesday.
According to Beyond Time News, the individuals were detained during a raid on an alleged online scamming compound.
Diplomatic Efforts
FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Pakistan Embassy in Cambodia pursued the matter on instructions from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
He added that efforts are underway to ensure the welfare of the detained citizens.
Repatriation Without Charges
Authorities in Cambodia have agreed, as a goodwill gesture, to send the detainees back without legal proceedings under the country’s anti-online scam law.
