Australia have announced fresh squads for their upcoming white-ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh, giving three uncapped players a chance to make their international debut. According to Beyond Time News, selectors want to test Australia’s bench strength ahead of future major tournaments.
The Australian team will tour Pakistan for a three-match ODI series before heading to Bangladesh for ODI and T20 matches next month.
New Faces Included in Australia Squads
All-rounder Liam Scott earned selection in the ODI squads for both Pakistan and Bangladesh. Young Victoria batter Ollie Peake also received a call-up for the Pakistan series.
T20 specialist Joel Davies joined the squad for the Bangladesh T20I series, which begins on June 17 in Chattogram.
Chief selector George Bailey said the tours offer a valuable opportunity for new players to experience international cricket.
He added that the mix of experienced players and emerging talent would help Australia prepare for challenging conditions in the subcontinent.
Senior Fast Bowlers Rested After IPL
Australia rested key pace bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc after their Indian Premier League commitments.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh will captain all squads during the Pakistan and Bangladesh tours.
Australia will play three ODIs against Pakistan in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4.
After the Pakistan series, the team will travel to Dhaka for three ODI matches before the T20I series in Bangladesh.
Maxwell and Stoinis Dropped
Australia dropped experienced all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis following the team’s disappointing campaign in the recent T20 World Cup.
The selectors also recalled fast bowlers Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith for the Pakistan ODI series.
Spinner Tanveer Sangha secured places in both ODI squads, while left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson returned for the Bangladesh T20 series.
