Balochistan to Install Tracking Systems in Long-Route Buses

The Balochistan Transport Department has decided to introduce GPS-based tracking systems in long-route passenger buses, aiming to improve road safety and reduce highway accidents, according to ARY News.

Modern Monitoring System for Highways

Under the new plan, tracking devices will be installed in buses operating on major national highways, including:

  • N-25
  • N-50
  • N-65
  • N-70
  • N-40

The system will allow authorities to monitor vehicle movement in real time, especially speed levels on risky routes.

Real-Time Alerts and Enforcement

Once the system becomes active, any instance of overspeeding will immediately trigger an alert in the central control room. Consequently, authorities will be able to respond faster to violations.

Moreover, the Transport Department has made it clear that no bus will receive a route permit without a valid tracker certificate. Strict penalties will also apply to operators who ignore the rules or violate safety standards.

Safety Push and Transport Modernisation

Officials say the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise transport infrastructure and improve passenger safety across the province. In addition, the digital monitoring system is expected to discourage reckless driving on dangerous highways.

By tightening enforcement and improving oversight, authorities hope to reduce accidents and make long-distance travel safer for passengers.

Background: Road Safety Concerns

The decision comes amid continued concern over highway accidents in the region. Earlier this year, a serious collision near Yakmach in Dalbandin resulted in the deaths of seven people, including women and children, while several others were injured.

Such incidents have increased pressure on authorities to implement stronger safety measures across long-route transport networks.
