The England and Wales Cricket Board is exploring the possibility of England’s first-ever tour of Nepal in the next Future Tours Programme (FTP) cycle. If approved, the series could take place between 2027 and 2031.
England may become the biggest international side to tour Nepal. The ECB is considering a short T20I series, although the final schedule is still under discussion.
Nepal’s rise in international cricket
Nepal national cricket team has gained attention with strong recent performances. The team recently secured a series win over the West Indies in the UAE, which boosted its international profile.
However, Nepal has not yet hosted a full tour by a Test-playing nation. A series against England would mark a major milestone for cricket in the country.
Talks between officials and future planning
Nepal and England met for the first time at the T20 World Cup earlier this year. England won a close match on the final ball.
After that match, discussions took place between Nepal Cricket Association secretary Paras Khadka and ECB officials about future cooperation.
The ECB is also working with other cricket boards on the next international calendar. The final schedule will depend on decisions from the ICC regarding the World Test Championship format.

England’s packed schedule and possible window
England already face a busy international calendar. They will host Australia for the 2027 Ashes series. They are also expected to host Pakistan and New Zealand for white-ball tours in 2027.
Despite the congestion, the ECB is still considering a short visit to Nepal. The series could serve as preparation for England’s white-ball tours in Asia, including potential matches in India.
If confirmed, the tour would represent a historic moment for Nepal cricket and expand England’s presence in emerging cricket nations.
