FBR Simplifies Online Tax Return Filing for Overseas Pakistanis

Islamabad: Overseas Pakistanis have been provided a major facilitation as the government has simplified the process of filing income tax returns through the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) online system.

According to Beyond Time News, expatriates can now conveniently submit their tax returns online through the FBR’s IRIS portal under a faster and more user-friendly process.

Awareness Campaign Launched

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has also launched a special awareness campaign to guide overseas Pakistanis about the importance of filing income tax returns and the procedure involved.

Officials said the initiative aims to improve tax compliance and help expatriates better understand their legal and financial responsibilities.

Who Needs to File Tax Returns?

According to official details, overseas Pakistanis earning income in Pakistan are required to file income tax returns.

This applies to income generated through:

  • Rental properties
  • Investments
  • Agricultural land
  • Business activities

Officials said active tax filers can benefit from:

  • Lower withholding tax rates
  • Easier banking transactions
  • Incentives on property purchases

The government believes the simplified system will encourage more overseas Pakistanis to become regular tax filers.
