WASHINGTON: A flag error briefly drew attention away from preparations for King Charles’ upcoming state visit to the United States.
According to Beyond Time News, officials in Washington DC mistakenly placed Australian flags near the White House instead of British Union Jacks.
The incident happened as the city prepared for the four-day royal visit marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Workers installed around 15 flags along key ceremonial areas. These included routes near the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
Most British and US flags were placed correctly. However, the Australian flags appeared in several prominent spots by mistake.
Authorities quickly spotted the error and removed the incorrect flags. They corrected the display soon after the issue came to light.

Although officials fixed the mistake quickly, the incident still attracted attention online. Social media users reacted with humour and questioned the planning process.
Some commentators also noted an interesting detail. King Charles also holds a constitutional role in Australia, which added irony to the situation.
Despite the brief confusion, preparations for the royal visit continue across Washington without delay.
