GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission has rejected a fake notification circulating on social media claiming the disqualification of candidate Riyaz Akbar, stating that the document is forged and has no legal validity.
According to Beyond Time News, officials clarified that the notice was not issued by any authorised office.
Fake Document Declared Invalid
The commission said the viral notification is completely fabricated and should not be relied upon.
It added that the name and signature of the Provincial Election Commissioner were misused in the forged document, making it a clear violation of election laws.
Legal Action Planned
Authorities said the matter is under investigation and legal action will be taken against those involved in creating and sharing the fake notice.
Public Advisory
The Election Commission urged voters, political parties, and media to rely only on official sources for election-related information.
It reiterated that only formally issued statements will be considered authentic.
Polling in Progress
Voting is underway across Gilgit-Baltistan for 24 seats of the Legislative Assembly.
Polling began in the morning and will continue until 5pm.
A total of 958,480 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots, while 403 candidates are contesting the elections.
