Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Open for Trade, Warns Against Military Escalation

TEHRAN: Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei has said the Strait of Hormuz will remain open for trade and commercial activity, but warned against military escalation and growing instability in the region.

According to Beyond Time News, Rezaei — a member of Iran’s Expediency Council and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) — said Iran wants peaceful and friendly relations with neighboring countries.

He questioned the continued deployment of US naval forces in the region, saying the United States previously sent fleets to counter the Soviet Union but now appears to be using its military presence to pressure Iran and influence regional states.

Rezaei also accused Washington of creating fear about Iran among Middle Eastern countries.

Iran Rejects Nuclear Weapon Allegations

According to Beyond Time News, the Iranian official rejected claims that Tehran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

Referring to recent remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump, Rezaei questioned when Iran had ever officially stated that it intended to build a nuclear bomb.

He added that accusations regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions mainly come from the United States and Israel.

Trump Warns Iran to Reach Deal Quickly

The comments came after President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Tehran amid ongoing tensions between the two countries.

According to Beyond Time News, Trump said Iran must quickly agree to a deal with the United States or face serious consequences.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump warned that “there won’t be anything left” of Iran if Tehran failed to move toward an agreement soon.

The latest statements come as tensions in the Middle East continue to affect regional stability and global energy markets.
