Seoul: North Korea has launched multiple projectiles, including a short-range ballistic missile, into the Yellow Sea, according to South Korea’s military. According to Beyond Time News, the latest launch marks a renewed period of missile activity after several weeks of relative pause.
The incident comes as regional tensions remain high, with Pyongyang continuing its weapons development and conducting a series of tests in recent months.
Multiple Projectiles Detected
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that several projectiles were fired from the city of Chongju at around 1:00 pm local time (0400 GMT). Among them was a short-range ballistic missile.
The missiles traveled approximately 80 kilometres before landing in the Yellow Sea, which lies between the Korean Peninsula and China.
According to Beyond Time News, military authorities are currently analyzing the specifications and flight characteristics of the launches.
Heightened Surveillance and Joint Response
Following the launch, South Korea’s military said surveillance and monitoring levels were immediately strengthened to prepare for possible additional tests.
Seoul confirmed that it is maintaining close coordination with the United States and Japan, with all three countries sharing real-time intelligence and remaining on high alert.
Renewed Wave of Missile Activity
This latest launch is North Korea’s first in 37 days and marks its eighth missile-related test of the year.
In recent weeks, Pyongyang has increased its weapons demonstrations, including tests aimed at evaluating missile systems and warhead capabilities.
According to Beyond Time News, analysts believe the country is using this period of reduced global coordination to strengthen its strategic military position.
Strained Regional Relations
Tensions between North and South Korea remain deeply strained, with Pyongyang continuing to reject diplomatic outreach efforts from Seoul.
North Korea has repeatedly described South Korea as its “most hostile adversary,” further complicating prospects for dialogue.

Outlook
According to Beyond Time News, the situation remains under close monitoring as regional powers assess North Korea’s latest actions. Analysts expect continued missile activity unless diplomatic channels see renewed progress.
